Summer 2019 Full-stack Software Developer

The Role

You’ll join a small, ambitious team of experienced startup co-founders building the next generation of interactive media, to tell stories where the fourth wall isn't just broken: it's never built. We will help our enterprise customers, who seek to engage new audiences in new situations, to deploy brands at scale with the touch of a personal encounter.

You’ll work with the cofounders to bridge the gap between the core AI technology and the end-user character interaction experience. This will require implementing REST API services, web-based UX, and integrations with third-party systems (e.g. chat platforms, social media, and potentially proprietary customer systems).

The role is contract-to-hire, with a full-time position contingent on both performance and adequate company financing.

Main responsibilities

Write and document code ready for future developers to read and build on
Implement both unit tests and integration tests
Work with product management and architecture to cost and plan new capabilities
Participate in code review, retrospectives, pair programming, and other engineering and planning activities

Docker
Python 3
- Web development tools/frameworks (e.g. Flask, Django, Tornado)
- Packaging and deployment (pip, setuptools, venv/virtualenv)
React
Git (and github collaboration)
Bash shell scripting

Summer Machine Learning Engineer

The Role

You’ll work with the cofounders to develop Dalang’s core AI technology for natural language generation. This will require automating corpus preparation, experimenting with machine learning models for NLP, and implementing REST API services.

The role is contract-to-hire, with a full-time position contingent on both performance and adequate company financing.

Main responsibilities

Experiment with different machine learning models to find the best fit for a use case
Write and document code ready for future developers to read and build on
Implement both unit tests and integration tests
Work with product management and architecture to cost and plan new capabilities
Participate in code review, retrospectives, pair programming, and other engineering and planning activities

You are comfortable picking up, experimenting with, and applying new Natural Language Processing technologies implemented in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
You are passionate about storytelling and storytelling systems.

Qualifications

Academic experience (with a correlated Master’s degree or PhD) in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence
Professional or academic experience with Deep Learning technologies and methologies
Python 3 (esp. Using PyTorch or TensorFlow)
